July Review

July’s show was a fabulous mix of fusion and classical with Eva Green opening the evening with a lovely ‘Fantasy on a Gypsy Song’ and later a beautifully executed fusion dance with double Isis Wings. She was followed buy the gorgeous Sara Malik in a performance to El Leila Wahida. Sara later showed us her versatility and wonderful musicality in Moroccan and Gulf dances. Also making her Silk Route debut was Shema, recently returned to England after living and performing in Canada and she delighted us with a fabulous Drum Solo and then later a beautiful interpretation of Abel Halim Hafez’ Nebtidi Minayn al Hikaya. We were also delighted to showcase Ashley, recently arrived from Vancouver where she was a member of the acclaimed Harem Dancers. She danced for us once but charmingly to ‘Nasma’
Eshta gave a deliciously expressive ‘ Baid Annak’ and the other half of the Saqarah team, Nafiseh, has lovely performance to Esmaooni. Our artist in residence Tara closed the first half of the show with a fun and energetic North African fusion and brought the evening’s performances to a close with a witty and perfect finale ‘Wanna Ku Magul el Toba.
